rubygame strikes again

Here’s a little sample app for os x (intel) that shows off how simple it is to whip up a game using rubygame. I wrote a silly Jeopardy clone for use in my church small group. I paired my Wiimote w/ my mac book pro (DarWiinRemote), bounced my MBP out to a TV and had a great time. The controls are ESC to quite, TAB to show the scores, +/- then team number(1/2) to modify score. ENTER selects the questions and the arrow keys move around the board. Take a look and play around.

Birthday Surprises

Well, my mom will be happy now; I finally went out and spent my hard-earned birthday money. I feel I made a solid investment. I bought Guitar Hero 3 for my Wii and picked up the Orange Box while I was there. The were some very anticipated titles and I am glad to get them. The problem is… I cannot put them down. GH3 was broke in immediately (Steam registration was down when I got home). My friend Drew and I went through almost the whole game on easy in the first night. When I finally gave in for the night it was after losing the same battle about 7 times in a row. With defeat still fresh in my mind, I beat “Lou” on my second attempt this morning. Come to find out the reason he was so hard was because he is the last battle in the game! So there you have it. I beat GH3 on easy.

With victory in one game, I decided to checkup on the status of the Steam reg system. My games had validated and could now be installed. Before I could finish round one of TF2 (part of the Orange Box), I found good ‘ol James Kilton (my friend Jason) on Steam ready to play. The built in voice and comic book feel of TF2 was smooth and fun. I had to pull myself away to eat lunch, and Brooke “helped me” to realize that I had other side work to do. All in all, a good time gaming. Now if I could just get some work done!

check out my characters etc on my new game info page.
