Just saw a posting of a newsweek article online: "article":http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/content/nov2007/id20071119_291589.htm

It's a good read about my employer Edmunds.com

A recent episode of the Simpsons made me laugh: there's a nice Michigan reference. Take a look: "Michigan or better"

Open Source Workings

Posted by Shawn Wed, 28 Nov 2007 02:07:00 GMT

I have officially committed to an apache open source project. I added Erb templates to apache’s microsling project. SVN

The best part, was that it was for official work business. My boss at edmunds.com told me to do it! yay for ruby.

Hulu seems cool

I just got into the closed beta of hulu.com Apparently a streaming video content distributor. It has a clean interface and seems to work well. As a side note, it's all written in ruby on rails. Lets see if I can embed an object here:

Birthday Surprises

Posted by Shawn Mon, 05 Nov 2007 02:32:28 GMT

Well, my mom will be happy now; I finally went out and spent my hard-earned birthday money. I feel I made a solid investment. I bought Guitar Hero 3 for my Wii and picked up the Orange Box while I was there. The were some very anticipated titles and I am glad to get them. The problem is… I cannot put them down. GH3 was broke in immediately (Steam registration was down when I got home). My friend Drew and I went through almost the whole game on easy in the first night. When I finally gave in for the night it was after losing the same battle about 7 times in a row. With defeat still fresh in my mind, I beat “Lou” on my second attempt this morning. Come to find out the reason he was so hard was because he is the last battle in the game! So there you have it. I beat GH3 on easy.

With victory in one game, I decided to checkup on the status of the Steam reg system. My games had validated and could now be installed. Before I could finish round one of TF2 (part of the Orange Box), I found good ‘ol James Kilton (my friend Jason) on Steam ready to play. The built in voice and comic book feel of TF2 was smooth and fun. I had to pull myself away to eat lunch, and Brooke “helped me” to realize that I had other side work to do. All in all, a good time gaming. Now if I could just get some work done!

check out my characters etc on my new game info page.

Why is 09 F9 11 02 9D 74 E3 5B D8 41 56 C5 63 56 88 C0 important? It’s the HD DVD processing key that allows people to watch HD DVD content. With it you can watch HD content and decrypt it from it’s media, even though ‘The Industry’ doesn’t want you to. Oh, and apparently it’s copyrighted so under the DMCA my posting it here is illegal etc etc.

I’m pretty sure numbers are “free”, or meant to be. So take a look and spread this number everywhere on the internet!
